ALPIC SCHOOL FOR RADIATION PHYSICS &
BEAM & RADIATION INTERACTION AND APPLICATIONS CONFERENCE
YEREVAN JERMUK
21-28 JUNE 2026
Scope
ASRP-BRIA
The series of the international scientific school ASRP named after Academician Alpik Mkrtchyan, together with the BRIA conference, is organized by the Institute of Applied Problems of Physics (IAPP) in collaboration with leading research world centers.
These events focus on discussions of advances in radiation and beam interaction physics and their applications. They provide a platform for experts and young researchers to jointly plan further research, addressing both fundamental scientific knowledge and practical applied problems within the main topics of both the school and the conference. The school-conference also fosters in creating new international and local collaborations in research and education.
Alpik Mkrtchyan was a renowned Armenian scientist and the founder and first director of IAPP, established in 1980. Under his leadership, the Institute became a leading research center, pioneering new scientific directions and providing young researchers with opportunities for high-level training and research experience. Mkrtchyan’s work significantly impacted the development of science in Armenia and promoted international scientific collaborations.
In 2026, it was decided to hold the ASRP and BRIA events together. This year, the events will take place in two cities: BRIA in Yerevan and ASRP in Jermuk.
During previous editions of the scientific school-conference, students explored rapidly developing areas of acoustic physics, gained experience in scientific discussions and presentations, and became familiar with applied developments at the Institute and other Armenian research organizations. Starting from 2025, the school has focused mainly on current trends and potential future challenges involving ionizing radiation. The 2nd and 3rd International Scientific School-Conferences were held in Yerevan and Sevan, the proceedings have been published in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series (Vs. 2657 in 2023 and 2924 in 2024). The 4th school, ASRP 2025, was held in two Armenian citie, Yerevan and Gyumri, and the proceedings are published as a special issue of the journal Radiation Physics and Chemistry (currently under final review).
Since 2009, the International Scientific Conference “Beams & Radiation Interactions and Applications” (BRIA), previously titled “Electron, Positron, Neutron and X–ray Scattering under External Influences”, has been organized biennially by IAPP NAS RA. The conference is dedicated to contemporary directions in condensed matter physics, materials science, and physics of acoustics. Over the years, it has attracted renowned international scientists, who also provide lectures to young researchers as part of the Gurgen Askaryan International Scientific School held in Meghri. The outcomes of all previous conferences have been compiled in a number of the Book of Abstracts and collections of individual contributions, published in special issues of the Journal of Physics: Conference Series and the Journal of Instrumentation.
